You don’t hear it, do you?
The earth’s heartbeat,
Faint, fast, fading.
A rhythm that once was strong,
Now gasping for breath
Under the weight of our mistakes.
We talk, we tweet,
But we don’t listen.
Plastic in the ocean,
Oil in the soil,
Smoke in the sky,
And we pretend it’s not our fault.
We say, “Tomorrow, we’ll fix it,”
But tomorrow’s not promised,
Tomorrow is now,
And we’re running out of time.
Our feet stand on this earth,
But do we feel her pain?
Her tears are floods,
Her screams are fires.
She’s crying, dying,
And we’re too busy swiping left,
Too busy scrolling,
Too busy consuming
To notice she’s suffocating.
But hear me now,
We can’t keep ignoring the signs,
We can’t keep pretending that progress
Is a one-way street,
That resources are infinite,
That we can take, take, take,
And not give back.
There’s no planet B,
No escape from this mess
We’ve built with our own hands.
So what are we gonna do?
Sit back and let it burn?
Or rise, reclaim, restore,
And let this world turn,
For us, for them, for those who come after?
We plant the seeds, we make the change,
We trade our habits for something real,
We stand, we fight, we raise our voice,
This is our world,
Our choice.
So hear it now, loud and clear,
The earth is screaming,
But we can still hear.
And it’s time,
Time to act, time to care,
The future is ours,
If we dare.
